Our little Gleek

Big N and I always look forward to Tuesday nights at 7. We try to have dinner ready and Little N settled into his chair with his food. We put off doing the dishes or getting ready for work until after 8 pm. If for any reason we have to be out of the house during this time, we have the DVR set and ready for us as soon as we get home.

Why do we do all of this? One word . . Glee. Yes, we are Gleeks and I have no shame in admitting that!

When the show first came on, I was not a fan. I only watched part of one episode and just thought it was a weird show. I kept hearing lots of great things about this show and how great it was, I just didn't understand. Then Big N and I watched the Season One Finale - we were hooked. Of course, it had nothing everything to do with the fact that they sang Journey and my hubby is obsessed with Journey. We really loved the show, but realized we had come in late and were going to have to wait a long time for the next season to come on.

Thankfully, there was Netflix. I signed up for Netflix so that I could get us caught up on Glee so we would be ready to go at the beginning of Season Two. It was wonderful - I now understand what everybody was going on and on about! They sing the best songs and have choreography that is fantastic! The show is so addicting.

So much that I think we have created our own little Gleek. Little N started yesterday off by singing to me that he wanted something to eat. This continued as the day went on and he sang to me about his morning at church and that he was going to play on the playground. He loves to sing and he sings about everything!

Little N is so animated and full of drama all the time! I think we are raising a future Broadway Star :)

OK, maybe that is a little overly dramatic (who knows where he gets his drama side from - haha), but a mommy can dream can't she?!

I will leave you with a pic of the cast of Glee from our favorite performance: The Season One Finale!

Oh, and if you haven't watched Glee before, I highly recommend you start now!

Sick Week

This has been one of those weeks, where everything has been crazy! It all started Monday about noon. I got a call from Little N's daycare saying he was running a 101.7 fever, so I went and picked him up. He was so pitiful looking when I got him :( We got home, got some magic medicine ibuprofen in him and rested. About an hour later, you would never have known he was sick! He was running all through the house with his 4-wheeler and motorcycle (both mini sized) and acting like nothing was ever wrong with him. However, later that night he was running another fever so I made plans for him for Tuesday.

Tuesday he stayed with my middle sister. Thankfully she is a stay-at-home almost mom (she is due with a baby GIRL in April 2011!) so she is able to help me out when I need someone to watch Little N and have to go to work. He did pretty good on Tuesday and didn't run a fever at all!

Then came Wednesday. I got myself ready for work and Little N ready for daycare, we got all the way in and he did not let me put him down. He was so sad and pitiful and said he didn't feel good. So I made the decision to take him to the doctor. I made him an appointment for first thing and we headed there. Apparently, Little N is like every other male and even though he had just a bad cold (doctor's words), he was acting like it was much worse. Why is it that when men get sick it's always so much worse and they are dying, but when women get sick, we get a shot and get on with our lives? They are so dramatic! Haha!! Anywho . . . after the doctor's visit I took Little N to my youngest sister's for her to watch him. She has a 6 month old, so thankfully our other sister was going to be with her all day. That could have been a mess!

Thursday my husband was at home so he took care of Little N. He was still not feeling well at this point and had hardly eaten anything all day. Big N and I took Little N to my in-law's house Thursday night so he could spend the night with them and have my mother-in-law watch him today.

Thankfully, I talked to my MIL earlier and Little N is doing much better and seems to have his appetite back now.

So my week consisted mostly of leaving work, driving to 4 different cities to drop off/pick up my child, paying a co-pay for a cold, and paying daycare the weekly amount for only 4 1/2 hours of childcare! It sure is exhausting and expensive to have a sick child, but I am thankful that I am able to do those things for him!

Maybe next week will be a little bit more normal for us. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Just wanted to share a pic of Little N being silly!

DressBarn Review and Giveaway!

I was so excited a few weeks ago to receive an email from DressBarn inviting me to participate in a VIP Shopping night! I have only been to DressBarn once before and it was in another state at an outlet mall. In the city that I live in, a new outlet mall just opened, The Shops of Grand River, and we are so excited to have this addition! It will be so nice this year to do all my Christmas shopping within 5 minutes of my house, Big N might not like it so much though!

The night of the shopping event, two of my friends and I arrived there and were so excited to get shopping. As soon as we walked in, we found an adorable shirt that would be perfect for a New Years party! The salespeople were very courteous, friendly and helpful. As soon as I had a few items in my hand, one of them offered to start a dressing room so I didn't have to carry them around while I was looking.

Speaking of the dressing room, it is so adorable! It has a beautiful chic look, which a gorgeous chandelier in each dressing area. Would you love to have this as your dressing area at home?

DressBarn has something for everyone! From business to casual, from daytime to special events. I saw several sweaters that would be perfect for me to wear to work, as well as several cute, in style outfits for the weekends and Christmas parties. Check out this tunic that would look great with some leggings and boots!

A hot item I have seen everywhere this year is the puffy vests. I used to have one when I was in high school and wish I would have kept it since they are back in style now! DressBarn is definitely keeping up with the fashion scene by having hot items for this year. This would be perfect with a long sleeved shirt under it and jeans for a fun shopping day (at DressBarn of course!).

Not only do they have great clothes to choose from, they also have awesome accessories! I have been dying for one of those flat wallets and was able to get one at a great price that night! It's so adorable. They have cute jewelry, socks, and purses at great prices! This little purse would be perfect for a date night!

Thanks to Melanie from Melanie A Photography for all the pictures used in this post!

It's My Birthday!

I know that Little N is only 2 1/2 and doesn't realize today is my birthday, but somehow I think he knows something is special about today. Our normal morning routine is usually me waking him up to get him dressed and run out the door (because I am running late again!) and him whining and crying that he doesn't want to get dressed, or wear that shirt or put on shoes. However, this morning he was an angel! He even laughed at me when I tickled him instead of his usual, "yeave me ayone".

And this continued once we got at daycare. I had to get his car seat to leave for my mom (she is watching him tonight so Big N and I can go to a concert!), so I had my hands full with that and his backpack/lunchbox. The past few weeks it's been a struggle with Little N to get him to go in and sit down and eat breakfast (or even just to get in the classroom), but not today. He walked in "all by myself" and went straight in and sat down, turned around to me and said "Bye".

It's days like this that make it much easier to leave him at daycare - I know he is always fine and having a blast, learning new things and making friends - but to see him happy in the mornings makes my day go by so much better. There is just a little less guilt that I deal with on those days for having to go to work.

So thanks to my Little N for making my birthday start off wonderfully, even though you don't have a clue what you did :)

Welcome!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to get my new blog started! Since today is the first day of November, I thought it would be a great time to debut my new blog - so here it is! Let me start by telling you a little about myself.

I am 26 (will be 27 in just 2 days!) and married to my wonderful husband, Big N for almost 5 years. We met when I was a Senior in high school and he was a Junior and have been together ever since! He is the love of my life and my best friend. We had Little N in March 2008 and he was the best thing that happened to us! He is 2 1/2 now and is a wild child, but we wouldn't change him for the world.

I work full time outside of the home, as well as having a part time business on the side with a friend of mine. We are members of a church in our community and love it!

Being a full time working mom is hard sometimes - there is a lot that goes on with working outside the home and having a child in daycare. We get through just one day at a time and do the best we can! I will be writing about the issues we have to deal with, plus have some fun and exciting posts too! I can't wait to share my journey with all of you and hope that you enjoy reading about our struggles, issues, triumps and all the fun we have!

Thank you for joining me!
